About Me

My Life - ‘you cannot step twice in the same river’ - Heraclitus

I was born with both jewish and islamic names, a steely commitment to common ground.

Later, I left four siblings and a one-bed flat for a prestigious boarding school. Between worlds I noticed that ‘reality’ is more socially constructed than it might at first seem.

Then 20 years ago I was diagnosed with a third chronic illness, an alarm that inspired me into an often difficult but far richer partnership with my own body.

My Work - ‘Standing Up is being alive’ - Jean-Claude Audergnon

I started out as a theatre-director, working with playwrights, actors and communities to explore the stories we tell ourselves.

I went on into social activism and leadership development - working with civic leaders, international human rights defenders, politicians, social entrepreneurs, pioneering educators and young people to facilitate change.

Now, mindful of rising instability, and aware that psychosocial support is often limited, I work with people and groups on inner and outer culture, community and conflict. Khalil Gibran says ‘work is love made visible’, I feel love is a radical act.

Training - ‘The opposite to war is not peace, it is learning on both sides’ - Arnie Mindell

I’m a certified coach (Association for Coaching), an accredited facilitator and conflict mediator, and a UKCP registered trainee psychotherapist (ProcessWork UK).

I’m also a trained Sourcework & Moneywork Practitioner and I have a Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Personal Training and Nutrition (Active IQ).

And I have an MFA in Theatre Directing (Birkbeck College and Drama Centre) and 20+ years international experience in social change and innovation.
